Payout for worker sprayed by acid

Michael Graham was working for an industrial chemist, transferring sulphuric acid from a container to a mixing tank. From there, the acid was to be mixed with water and pumped to a storage tank. During the procedure, he was sprayed with acid over his face, neck and arms, despite wearing a full face visor and protective gauntlets, when a pipe from the pump became unclipped. Mr Graham took his claim to Rapid Solicitors. A spokesman at Rapid said: “Fortunately for our client, the acid had been diluted somewhat with water, but he still suffered significant burns. His company initially denied they were at fault and decided to fight the case, despite the severity of their employee’s injuries. With our extensive knowledge of industrial machinery, we were able to establish the facts of how this accident happened, gather the medical evidence and win the case. With our conclusive evidence, Mr Graham’s employers had no alternative but to admit fault, avoiding the need for an expensive court trial”
