Restaurant worker scalded by deep fat fryer wins £2750 payout

Diane Peters was working in a restaurant, cleaning a deep fat fryer, when she suffered a scald to her arm from hot fat. Mrs Peters explained: “The fryer was switched off but the fat was still very hot. I had to take a piece of the machinery out of the fryer. I was trying to be careful, but the part was defective and didn’t release as it should have done, so it dropped back into the fryer and my arm was splashed with fat. I’ll have permanent scarring.”
